We provide guidance and services that help young women thrive—from teaching proper hygiene practices and building interview skills to preparing them for academic success and exploring higher education opportunities.

We’re Changing The World One Feminine Hygiene Product At A Time!

What is Project Big Dot?

At Project Big Dot, we are dedicated to uplifting and empowering young women and girls throughout the parish. We work to bridge the gap for teenage girls and women facing financial hardship or homelessness, ensuring they have access to essential resources like hygiene products—items that are vital for daily life but not covered by SNAP or other government assistance programs.

But our support goes beyond providing essentials. We mentor girls, offer guidance, and connect them to educational resources and opportunities—from academic enrichment and college preparation to vocational and trade programs. By equipping them with these tools and experiences, we help young women explore their potential, build confidence, and create pathways to a successful and independent future. At Project Big Dot, we believe that every girl deserves the chance to thrive—academically, personally, and professionally.

“Feminine hygiene products are essentials we often take for granted, yet many young women lack consistent access. By providing these resources, along with mentorship, educational guidance, and access to opportunities, we help them manage their monthly cycles with dignity, build confidence, and equip them to reach their full potential.”

Taneshia Flowers, Founder & CEO, Project Big Dot

Taneshia Flowers is a Baton Rouge native and a passionate advocate for women and girls. She is a graduate of Scotlandville Magnet High School and Southern University A&M College and recently earned her Master of Science in Strategic Communications from Arkansas State University.

A former educator and product of North Baton Rouge, Taneshia experienced firsthand the impact that a lack of resources can have on students and families. Her work in education and mentoring revealed a common challenge: teachers and counselors were often spending hundreds of dollars annually to provide menstrual products for female students. Recognizing this financial burden, Taneshia founded Project Big Dot to provide essential resources, mentorship, and educational opportunities to young women in her community.

In addition to her nonprofit work, Taneshia is a licensed real estate agent and developer. Her passion for development is rooted in her desire to create attainable housing solutions for the women and girls she serves, ensuring they have stable, supportive environments where they can thrive. Known for her tenacity, creativity, and dedication, Taneshia continues to uplift her community, empowering women and girls to reach their full potential.
